Obedience

Obedience is the very first course in CFBK's Foundation Program, and that is not by chance. Before gifts, before ministry, before knowledge, God seeks hearts that respond to His voice.

What is biblical obedience?

Obedience is not a simple request made to the believer: it is a way of life the believer voluntarily chooses. It consists of studying the Holy Scriptures with the intention of keeping and practicing the commandments of God found there, with an attitude of the heart and not under compulsion.

This course begins by dismantling false concepts: obedience is not a display of rituals, formalities, or offerings, nor something we do in order to be rewarded. It is the response of a good and pure conscience before God (1 Timothy 3:9; Hebrews 13:18).

What you will discover in this course

  • The difference between true obedience and outward religiosity
  • Saul's example: why God values obedience more than sacrifices (1 Samuel 15)
  • The "love song" of obedience in Psalm 119 and its results: direction, peace, and protection
  • Obedient people in the Old Testament: Noah, Abraham, Moses
  • Why partial obedience does not exist: God requires whole obedience

"Then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success, if you meditate day and night in the Book of the Law, to observe to do according to all that is written in it." — Joshua 1:8

Why begin with this course?

All of CFBK's biblical training rests on one principle: knowledge without obedience produces nothing. The student who learns to obey the Word of God from the first year lays a solid foundation for prayer, faith, and ministry that will follow. The love of obedience will lead you to meditate on the Word of God, keep you from sinning (Psalm 119:104), guide your steps (Psalm 119:105), and give you great peace (Psalm 119:165).

Who is this course for?

For every Christian, every disciple of Jesus, who wants to move from routine faith to a real walk with God. New convert, longtime believer, or servant of God in training: obedience is the foundation of every child of God's life. You do not need to be a minister or aspire to pastoral ministry to take this course.
