Jesus, Our Example of Minister and Ministry

Examining the life and ministry of Jesus

The course begins with a complete examination of Jesus' life in the Gospels: His natural history, birth, childhood, adolescence; His attitude toward the things of God at the age of twelve (Luke 2:41-50); His attitude toward people; His way of living by the Word and being the Word in everything (John 1:1-14); and His ministry: organization, administration, effective submission, and the greatest fruit.

Specific principles of His life and ministry

The heart of the course unfolds the great principles of Jesus' ministry, each with lessons to retain:

• He was sent by God, for God (John 20:21), announced by prophecies since Genesis 3:15
• He spent quality time with God (Matthew 14:23; Luke 5:16): worship, prayer, fellowship
• He took time to prepare, naturally and spiritually. The lessons are direct: do not be in a hurry to do ministry, and do not be in a hurry for success
• He was resolved concerning His call and mission (John 4:34): the silent years, from age 13 to 29, then His face set toward Jerusalem despite the cross, never allowing a cultural or religious factor to block His call
• He lived what He preached (John 13:14-17): the first testimony of His preaching was His own life
